The Elements

Hill walk – 3hrs

Explore the surrounding hills and admire the view. Looking out over Worcestershire and Birmingham there is always something exciting to look at.

Night walk – 1.5hrs

One of our many activities offered for an evening session on residential trips and a great way to burn off some of that excess excitement and energy. In the summer it is more about seeing the views whereas in the winter months the local counties provide quite a dazzling display from the street light and houses lighting up the towns beneath you.

Canoeing – 3hr

(Subject to availability)

Canoeing gives a great introduction to water sports for everyone. When lashed together in pairs canoes are highly stable and suitable for nervous or special needs groups. More advanced groups might choose to use them as a craft to journey down some of our local rivers on a river trip. All of our water sport activities use high quality crafts and participants are provided with a buoyancy aid and paddle.

Kayaking – 3hr

(Subject to availability)

Using the centres’ fleet of kayaks at a local lake or river location as appropriate, these sessions provide an introduction to the sport for the novice paddler. Participants have the chance to try and learn how to control their boat before setting out on a small journey or playing a range of kayak based games.

Low level ropes – 1.5hr

Our low ropes course is built amongst the trees and offers an extensive range of obstacles. Balance and co-operation are key features in this activity. Working with a partner the task is to make your way around as many of the challenges as possible while your partner supports and assists as best they can. The average height is just 0.5m from the ground and elements include rope swings, balancing logs and nets.

Quad Pole 1.5hr

The quad pole is a good challenge for all ages. You will need a head for highs as your team will need to get 4 people standing onto of a telegraph pole at the same time 20ft in the air.

High Level Ropes and High Bridges – 3hr and 1.5hr

One of the first of its kind our high level ropes course is set amongst giant poles and gives a great sense of adventure. Under expert guidance groups are shown and taught how to use the equipment before taking to the tops where the instructors join you to make sure you are doing everything correctly. A course of eight different elements awaits you thirty feet up in the air, take on what you dare!

For the youngsters we offer the high bridges, which are the first two elements of our high ropes course. Again harnesses, helmets, belay systems and advanced steel wire safety systems ensure you cannot fall. A couple of great activities for facing any fears of heights.

Climbing – 1.5hrs

A 12 metre wooden face makes climbing at the centre a safe and challenging experience. Throughout the session a high level of involvement is maintained whether you are climbing or on the ground encouraging and helping to belay your peers. This is a team activity as well as an individual challenge.

Abseiling – 1.5hrs

Our purpose built abseil tower will be the perfect introduction to abseiling. Following tuition from our highly qualified staff, participants will be taught how to use the equipment and with guidance and support as well as encouragement from their peers take on the backwards walk down the tower.

Problem solving, team work and initiative challenges – 1.5hr

‘Spiders Web’ and ‘Team Beam’ are just some of the problem solving exercises designed to test and develop ingenuity, co-operation and leadership.
Using basic equipment and following careful briefings clients are set challenges which require them to share ideas, plan and work together to achieve the goal set. The problems are a good mix of physical and mental challenges.
Long used by management trainers and the armed forces, these activities are just as enjoyable for corporate and youth groups as well as the youngsters.

Nightline – 1.5hr

Also known as the blindfold trail or confidence course, groups work in pairs taking turns to instruct their blindfolded partner around the course. There are tyres and tunnels to climb through, not forgetting the rather tricky spiders web of bungee cord. Immense fun and very educational: a great way to develop support, trust and communication skills.

Target sports: archery  – 1.5hr

Great activities for personal improvement, in a single session novices can progress considerably. Both sessions offer a different style of activity from the high adrenaline challenges.
The centre’s archery range and equipment can cater for all levels of ability offering a fun and dynamic activity session.

 Orienteering – 1.5hr

With a large site and sloping woodland surrounding us, we are in an ideal orienteering location. Orienteering is a great way of acquiring and developing valuable map reading and navigational skills. The centre has a range of graded courses providing opportunities for all ages and experience.

Bush craft – 1.5hr

A fantastic session for getting back to nature, Bush craft allows for social skills to be developed around a camp fire and encourages team work and co-operation whilst building shelters. This is a session that will further life skills, teach best practice around fires and give groups the chance to learn about knife work. Our beautiful nature reserve provides a great location for this activity. The session can progress on from Forest School or can be tailored to individual group’s needs; in particular this is a great activity for KS1 and KS2.
